Information You Provide Directly:
- Account Information: When you create an account, we may collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials.
- Health Data: Blood glucose readings, meal logs, food entries, carbohydrate counts, and A1C estimates that you voluntarily enter into the App.
- Dietary Preferences: Diabetes type (Type 1 or Type 2), dietary preferences, and food favorites you configure in the App.
- User-Generated Content: Custom food entries, corrected nutritional values, and recipe preferences.
Information Collected Automatically:
- Camera Data: When you use the AI Food Scanner or Barcode Scanner features, the App accesses your device camera. Images captured are processed to identify foods and retrieve nutritional data. Images are not stored on our servers after processing.
- Location Data: When you use the Restaurant Finder feature, the App may access your approximate location to find nearby restaurants. Location data is used only for this purpose and is not stored.
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and compatibility purposes.
- Usage Analytics: Anonymous usage patterns to help us improve the App experience.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App's features and functionality.
- Display your food logs, glucose readings, and nutritional summaries.
- Power the AI Food Scanner to identify foods and estimate carbohydrate content.
- Provide personalized nutrition advice through the Zara AI Assistant.
- Generate AI-powered diabetic-friendly recipes.
- Find nearby diabetic-friendly restaurants based on your location.
- Process in-app purchases and manage your subscription.
- Send you notifications you have opted into (e.g., glucose reminders).
- Respond to your support requests.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your health data (glucose readings, food logs) is stored locally on your device using secure on-device storage. If you create an account, certain data may be synced to our secure servers to enable cross-device access. We use industry-standard encryption and security measures to protect your data both in transit and at rest.
4. Third-Party Services
The App may use the following third-party services:
- USDA FoodData Central API: To retrieve verified nutritional information for foods. No personal data is shared with USDA.
- Open Food Facts: To retrieve nutritional data from barcode scans. No personal data is shared.
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store: To process in-app purchases and subscriptions. These platforms have their own privacy policies.
- AI Processing: Food images submitted through the AI Food Scanner are processed by our AI service to identify foods. Images are processed in real-time and are not retained after analysis.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- With your explicit consent.
- To comply with legal obligations or respond to lawful requests.
- To protect the rights, property, or safety of Dailybetes, our users, or the public.
6. Camera and Permissions
The App requests camera permission to enable the AI Food Scanner and Barcode Scanner features. Camera access is used solely for these features and can be revoked at any time through your device settings. The App does not access your camera in the background.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Delete your account and associated data at any time.
- Export your health data (glucose readings, food logs) in PDF format.
- Opt out of analytics and non-essential data collection.
9. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the App's services. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.
