Our Story

Built from a Real Need, Not a Boardroom

Hello, and thank you for being part of the Dailybetes community and installing Dailybetes: Diabetic Tracker.

This app started from a simple, personal need. As a wedding videographer, I’m always on the go—and there were so many times I didn’t know how many carbs were in the meals I was eating. I wished I had something that could help me better estimate carbs so I could more confidently manage my insulin doses.

That’s when the idea came: create a tool that could scan food and give a realistic carb estimation right when I needed it.

What started as something just for me quickly became something much bigger. I realized so many of us live with the same daily challenges.

Dailybetes was built by diabetics, for diabetics. I understand the mental load, the constant calculations, and the effort it takes to manage this condition every day.

My hope is that this app makes your life a little easier and helps you feel more confident and in control.

Straight Answers for Everyday
Food and Glucose Logging

Practical app guidance paired with sources and clear limits—so you can log with context and discuss decisions with your care team.

How do I count carbs when I have diabetes?

Start by logging the serving you actually ate and checking the total carbohydrate grams for that serving. Dailybetes helps you search foods, scan barcodes, and record meals, while the American Diabetes Association explains that an individualized plan from your diabetes care team is important—especially if you use mealtime insulin.

What does glycemic index mean?

Glycemic index (GI) compares how carbohydrate-containing foods tend to affect blood glucose. It is one useful reference point, not a diagnosis or a complete measure of a meal: portion size, fiber, preparation, medications, and your individual response matter too. Dailybetes displays GI information alongside carbohydrate data to support more informed food logging.

Can a food photo scanner estimate carbs?

Yes. Dailybetes Pro can estimate foods and nutrition from a clear meal photo, then lets you review and adjust the result. Photo estimates are approximations: mixed dishes, hidden ingredients, cooking methods, and portion size can change the result. Check packaged-food labels when available and do not use an estimate as a substitute for professional dosing guidance.

Can I log glucose and meals in the same app?

Yes. Dailybetes lets you log meals, carbohydrates, and manual glucose readings in one place so you can review your entries over time. The app is a personal tracking tool, not a connected glucose-monitor replacement or a source of medical advice.

Can an app estimate A1C from my glucose entries?

Dailybetes can estimate A1C from the glucose readings you enter. That estimate is only as complete as the data recorded and is not a laboratory A1C test. Use it for trend awareness between visits and discuss interpretation with your healthcare professional.

Can I scan packaged food with a barcode?

Yes. Dailybetes includes barcode lookup for packaged foods. Always compare the result with the package’s Nutrition Facts label, especially serving size and total carbohydrate, because product formulations and database records can change.

Dailybetes App FAQs

Clear answers about food tracking, scanning, glucose logs, reports, privacy, and app access.

What is Dailybetes?

Dailybetes is a diabetes food-tracking app for people who want to search or scan food, log carbohydrates and glucose readings, check glycemic index information, estimate A1C from logged readings, and create shareable reports. It is designed for personal tracking and education, not medical diagnosis or treatment.

Is Dailybetes free to use?

Yes. The free experience includes food search, carbohydrate and glycemic index information, barcode lookup, meal and glucose logging, A1C estimates, pattern review, and PDF reports. Dailybetes Pro adds AI food scanning, Zara AI assistance, recipe tools, and restaurant discovery for $4.99 per month.

What should I look for in a diabetes food-tracking app?

Look for a workflow you will actually use: reliable food and carbohydrate information, an easy way to log meals and glucose, clear reports, privacy information, and a way to review or correct estimates. Choose features around your own care plan rather than treating an app as a replacement for your clinician or diabetes educator.

Who is Zara, the AI nutrition assistant?

Zara is Dailybetes’ AI nutrition assistant, available with Dailybetes Pro. It can help you explore food ideas, recipes, and nutrition questions. Its responses are informational, may be imperfect, and should not be used to make medication, insulin, or treatment decisions.

Does Dailybetes work for both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes?

Dailybetes provides food and personal-tracking tools that may be useful to adults managing Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes. Individual nutrition, glucose, and medication needs differ, so use the app alongside—not instead of—guidance from your healthcare team.

Can I create a report to share with my doctor or diabetes educator?

Yes. Dailybetes can create a PDF summary of the information you logged so you can share it with your care team. The report is a conversation starter and record of entered data; it does not replace clinical records, monitoring devices, or professional interpretation.

Where can I download Dailybetes?

Dailybetes is available for iPhone and iPad on the Apple App Store. Android users can join the available beta program from this website.

How is Dailybetes different from other diabetes apps?

Dailybetes brings food search, barcode lookup, food-photo estimates, glucose logging, A1C estimation, pattern review, and shareable reports into one diabetes-focused workflow. The goal is to reduce friction around everyday food and personal-tracking tasks, while keeping important review and correction controls in the user’s hands.

How does Dailybetes handle my information?

Dailybetes’ data practices are described in the Privacy Policy. Read it before using the app, especially if you plan to create an account or share a report. You can also find account-deletion instructions in the website footer.

What data does Dailybetes use for nutrition information?

Dailybetes uses nutrition reference data, including USDA FoodData Central reference values where applicable, and published glycemic-index references. Food-photo and recipe results remain estimates and may vary by product, preparation, serving size, and what is visible in a photo; verify labels and discuss clinically important decisions with your care team.

How many carbs should a diabetic eat per day?

There is no one carbohydrate target that is right for everyone. Your needs can depend on medication, activity, health goals, and your personal response to food. Use Dailybetes to record and review carbohydrate intake, then work with a registered dietitian, diabetes educator, or clinician on an individualized plan.

Does coffee raise blood sugar for diabetics?

Black coffee itself has minimal impact on blood sugar, but what you add to it matters. Sugar-laden creamers, flavored syrups, and sweetened coffee drinks can cause significant glucose spikes. Dailybetes includes a dedicated Coffee Guide (Pro feature) that covers the best sugar-free coffee creamers, natural sweeteners, and diabetic-friendly coffee choices so you can enjoy your daily cup without worrying about your blood sugar.

What are good diabetic snacks with a low glycemic index?

Some of the best diabetic snacks include almonds, walnuts, Greek yogurt, hummus with vegetables, hard-boiled eggs, cheese, berries, and celery with peanut butter — all of which have low glycemic index values. Dailybetes categorizes 309+ foods by GI rating, making it easy to find good diabetic snacks. You can save your favorites for quick access and use the Favorites feature to build a personalized list of go-to snacks.

Is there a free A1C calculator app?

Yes — Dailybetes includes a built-in A1C Estimator that calculates your estimated A1C from your logged glucose readings using the ADA-recognized formula. It shows your risk classification, trends over time, and whether you're successfully lowering your A1C. While it's not a replacement for lab work, it gives you a reliable estimate between doctor visits. The A1C Estimator is available as a Pro feature.

What are the best diabetic fast food options?

The best diabetic fast food options include grilled chicken sandwiches (without the bun), salads without croutons or sugary dressings, bunless burgers, and grilled protein bowls. Chains like Chipotle, Chick-fil-A, and Subway offer customizable options that can be made diabetic-friendly. Dailybetes includes a Restaurant Finder (Pro feature) that helps you discover diabetic-friendly restaurants and fast food options near you with GI-rated menu suggestions.
